Crimson coloured Battalion after Battalion was ordered to charge at the enemy lines. The fire power of arrows was so overwhelming that 1,000's of brave Amazons kept falling, filling the battlefield with carpets of dead and dying, in some places stacked 5 or 6 corpses high. These carpets of dead and dying slowed down the charge of fresh battalions, who made slow progress as they made their way over so much armour, quivering flesh and slippery, blood soaked shields.

Andromeda held her shield firm as she warded off arrows. Looking down at the carpet of flesh at her feet to choose her steps and avoid tripping or slipping, her eyes fell on the beautiful, moon shaped mounds of a slaughtered Amazon's round buns smiling up at her. The cooling corpse lay twisted on top of a large pile of slaughtered meat. Andromeda planted a foot firmly on one of its breasts and stepped right over the mound.

Altheia turned in surprise as she heard a gurgling croak, to see Meneleia take an arrow to her soft throat. She kept moving, knowing there was nothing she could do for her, as she watched her crumple to her knees then slam face down onto her face and chest onto the growing pile of corpses.

"Poor slut!" Altheia thought,, "but better her than me! Yet I never thought it would be so difficult and perilous to try to wade through so many dead and dying. So few of us will have the honour of engaging in close quarter combat with the enemy. And if I do survive this battle, there will be so much work stripping so many dead of all their armour and weaponry!"
